About Alisha Braatz
A genuine Oregonian who tried to move away but came right back home, Alisha Braatz is a children’s author from Eugene, Oregon who writes and illustrates both Middle Grade fiction and Picture Books.
After graduating from Pepperdine University with a double-major in Advertising and Creative Writing, Alisha moved straight away to Italy, where as an Au Pair she learned to speak just enough Italian to communicate with three year olds. After her sojourn in Europe, Alisha spent many years as a Realtor/Writer; by day she helped folks buy homes, and in the evenings she penned a syndicated humor column with Inman Real Estate News. Her debut children’s book The Awesome Book About God For Kids, illustrated by the talented Sandy Silverthorne, was published in 2013. With a growing family and a backlog of stories to write, Alisha quit real estate altogether and began seriously pursuing a writing career in children’s publishing. Alisha’s middle grade novel, Willa Wild, received first place in the 2016 Willamette Writers Kay Snow Writing Competition.
Outside of her office, you can find Alisha behind the wheel of her ’68 Camaro, ripping around town to school drop-offs, ballet lessons, and soccer games. She is married to a ruggedly handsome man who thinks he can drive faster than she can, but everyone knows that’s not true.
Alisha is a member of SCBWI and especially enjoys conferences and retreats that include karaoke, caffeine and lots of snacks. Check-in with Alisha on Twitter @AABraatz.
